A map of West Faraday, showing the position of the five cities with roads between them.
The most current map of West Faraday, as provided by the Cartographer's Guild of Meridian. Commonly used trade routes are shown with dashed lines. Smaller towns and settlements are not shown on this map, but most tend to be in close proximity to trade routes as these tend to be the safest areas. The orange dotted line is a proposed rail line designed by Arkesian engineers, though they are still in talks with the Pass before beginning to build this line. The black line between Arkosy and Lariat shows the route traveled by Arkosy's army during the Keyhole Wars.

The same map as above, covered in bright pink, oranges, and reds in curving shapes.
The most current map of the Mar, as provided by the Cartographer's Guild of Meridian. Mapping the Mar is far more uncertain, so this is a composite of multiple maps they have provided for various sectors across the continent. Brighter colors tend to be safer areas, more cloudy areas are less mapped out as they're less accessible. Different colors correspond to different pockets of the Mar, though it tends not to work as nearly as we'd like.

What is the Mar, and why does this map look like this?

The same map as above, with the cities from the first map visible.
If we place the cities on the Mar map, it becomes visible why people have built these cities where they are: these are places where the Mar is thinnest, and life is therefore safest. However, the converse could also be true, that these places are safest because they hold population centers. We don't know enough about the Mar to say for certain.

The original map, with white areas outlines where the Mar is most present.
We can clear up the map above by outlining the areas of higest Mar density. Outlined areas tend not to be settled or traveled, though recent innovations in anti-Mar technology have allowed some paths to be forged through areas previously considered impassable. An example of this is the route to Lariat traveled in the Keyhole Wars, which was stabilized by Arkesian technology to allow their army to pass through.
